This morning, I received an e-mail from fellow mystery author, Leeann Sweeney, congratulating me on THE BLACK WIDOW AGENCY being nominated for a Barry Award in the category of "Best Original Paperback." I was astounded, then promptly wrote back and told her she must have me confused with someone else. Well, don't you know it was true? Here's the piece from the Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine press release:
2008 BARRY AWARD NOMINATIONS
BEST PAPERBACK ORIGINAL
QUEENPIN, Megan Abbott (Simon & Schuster)
BLACK WIDOW AGENCY, Felicia Donovan (Midnight Ink)
CHOKE POINT, Jay MacLarty (Pocket)
THE MARK, Jason Pinter (Mira)
WASH THIS BLOOD CLEAN FROM MY HAND, Fred Vargas (Penguin)
WHO IS CONRAD HIRST?, Kevin Wignall (Simon & Schuster)
Now if you don't know, the Barry Awards are named in honor of the memory of master reviewer Barry Gardner. The winners will be announced at Bouchercon 2008, the annual mystery convention in Baltimore, MD in October.
I'm humbled, thrilled and honored to be in such outstanding company. Go Black Widows!!!
